A public school is NO place for the Bible. It doesn’t matter if 99% of the students and faculty want the verse. There is a separation of church and state. In America, we have freedom of religion and freedom FROM religion. The Christian fundamentalists in America are discriminating against others. If you want religion in public and state, why not move to Afghanistan or Saudi Arabia?

The guarantees, rights, responsibilities and protections afforded all citizens by the Constitution do not begin and end in Washington, D.C.

This is a story that needs to be heard by the entire nation. It seems that more and more God is being taken out of our society.

I’m all for church/state separation, but is this really a violation? Aren’t the students entitled to free speech? If the cheerleaders, collectively, want to create signs with Bible verses on them, isn’t that within their rights? If the school isn’t mandating that they must quote scripture on these signs, then I don’t see a church/state violation.
It’s unfortunate that many atheists must put up with this nonsense in many parts of the country, but sadly, individuals have a right to be stupid.
You seem to want it both ways by debating whether God can be manipulated, then stating that he doesn’t exist. Before you can decide the former you must conclude the latter.
On the second issue: people can respond to God and yet be wrong in their interpretation or response….it is the fallible aspect of humanity. What you describe as “silly bible verses” is the intent of the heart…..errors and all!
And those who – ignore important scientific truths ie that heterosexual union is superior to homosexual union – cannot be expected to produce much in the way of scientific development. The Scientific Revolution is merely the application of discoveries pertaining to the material world! It had to happen – to feed a growing population – and it diid so within Christendom ONLY!
The Church punished Gallileo because he tried to imply his discoveries had disproven the Holy Bible. In fact the text in question is metaphorical- as the Holy Bible is not a science text – its subject matter going much deeper than that. But it is the philosophical basis of all good science!!

The only way God would “fail” them, as you say, is if by their prayer God would then be compelled to act to their wishes. That’s not the right priority view. It’s not God responding to them because of some prayer they may make, it’s whether they are responding correctly to Him. Don’t think that God can be manipulated.
