@SKULLBOY6 I have very little problem believing in both God and science.
GO AQUARIUS!! ;D
To quote Sagan a bit more directly:
Think of all the blood spilled in those wars to control a fraction of a dot.
Where are we in the Universe? We belong to a Solar System with a very ordinary star. This star is located in the arms of a galaxy that is not too big, and not too small either. We are not even at the center of that galaxy. Our galaxy is just one of the billions of galaxies. From afar, the Earth is just a pale blue dot. We live on that dot as well as all the rest of humanity and all the millions of species of the only known life forms in the universe.
On that dot lived the great men of ancient times and modern, the warriors who fought and killed millions of their fellow humans for domination of a minuscule dot, the religious leaders who claim that only a small portion of one species living on that dot have the favor of their god or gods and the rest would suffer these gods’ anger: we live on this dot.
This is our home. It is a dot floating in its lonesome in space. It is a dot we try with all our best to foul up and destroy. It is the dot where the human inhabitants, “animalcules” as Voltaire calls them, find it better to quarrel than to realize the need for preserving it with concerted effort.
@5355vbxjbj76rvn Interesting since the Vatican spends a billion dollars a year on Science esp in Astrophysics and they employ some of the most brilliant scientists on the earth.
god is civilisation type fucking 3!!
@fireflyzzz42 Religion is based on faith, science is based on evidence. They don’t mix. The former is based on a belief in something because you want it to be true, the latter is based on something because you have a reason to believe in it.
“atheists hate when pastors talk about science. why? b/c pastors are not scientific experts. um….”
–Atheists aren’t necessarily scientists and vice versa.
@m1grand70 poeple will only live about 100 years, give or take 10 years =)
if we don’t base our beliefs on the bible, then we base it on something else like, say, “theoretical” physics…does anyone see the irony? no? well, here’s another example in the same video: atheists hate when pastors talk about science. why? b/c pastors are not scientific experts. um….
well i’m an atheist and its obvious religion is bullshit of course people 10,000 years ago are going to make up stories they didn’t even know what a atom, electron, cancer so theres no question that religion is bullshit.
i believe in god, but who made god, where did he come from? he couldn’t have just popped out of no where right? and who made that person or thing and so forth.
@jityr2 “But do animals assume that if they don’t get killed by someone, they’ll never die? of old age?”
–This is projection. Animals don’t think as we do so they don’t assume anything.
@anthonycotillo Correct, they do not have a neocortex and therefore this type of reasoning is beyond them.
@jityr2 to me (until showed otherwise) they are incapable of it, simply their brain hasnt developed the capacity to reason or to evaluate concepts like death, time, ect.. they feel pain physically, but will never feel dissapointed, or feel anguished about not knowing what will come in the future or what will not come…(lucky bastards)
there’s actually a scientific answer to almost everything, weather it be crazy or simple there is a scientific answer. We are already messing with animal/human genetics, we have already in some cases made animals like rats live twice their life span! We do this by realizing that our cells keep duplicating till their tired and then they collapse, if we can keep them awake then we can keep them living. If we can make rats live twice their age now, what do you think the future holds?
@anthonycotillo But do animals assume that if they don’t get killed by someone, they’ll never die of old age?
@jityr2 out of instinct they do what they do not out of reason
4:39 sounded like daffy duck reading the bible
Gosh how could animals be unaware that death is inevitable. Not to mention that killings among the animal kingdom is common.
@blicksflicks “The King James Version is the authoritative version. That’s why it’s called THE AUTHORIZED KING JAMES VERSION.”
–Authorized by whom?
“If you don’t see that on a Bible, it’s not entirely an accurate translation.”
–Well, considering that there is no copyright on this book anymore, you could write “authorized” on any one that you wish.
“some of those other versions were made by atheists, people with a pro-gay agenda and a lot of other garbage.”
–Wow
@SKULLBOY6 No. The original New Testament was written in Koine Greek. The Old Testament was written in Hebrew. The English version was simply translated from the Greek and the Hebrew. Also, there are no mistakes in the Bible. If you think there’s numerous mistakes, then show me one. And, I bet you I can explain it to you and show you it’s not a mistake.
@5355vbxjbj76rvn No. The King James Version of the Bible has no faults. It’s the infallible Word of God.
@blicksflicks
It was authorised for use in public worship – therefore it is known is the Authorised Version. This is a separate issue from whether it is an accurate translation. Like any translation, it has its faults.
